Previously Unreleased Live Material
This live album features an almost 60 minute set recorded at the time when Pete Lemer was still with the band. It contains two tracks from the first album and three from the second, as well as two additional tracks, "Wotever It Is" and "Freedom", which weren't previously released. Although this material has not been remastered it still has a unique quality and an extraordinary sound that was not customary for the time. All of the instruments are very clear in the mix and it is a very good example of the band's excellent ensemble playing. The Gurvitz brothers and Mr. Snip are on fine form singing three part harmonies. Adrian Gurvitz performs some blistering guitar solos while the rhythm guitar and keyboards both provide solid support for the vocals and rhythm section. The power of the latter keeps the perfect balance between timing, virtuoso interludes and merciless force. Played loud enough, this dynamic recording almost makes you feel like you're back in the 70's at the actual concert.
Between 1974 and 1976 the band recorded three studio albums. Their debut, "The Baker Gurvitz Army", entered the UK and US charts immediately with an aggressively heavy sound which was completely new at the time. This is a never before released live album.
