Mad Curry was founded in Belgium in 1970. The band had a remarkable line-up which included sax, organ, bass, drums and vocals, but no guitar. They caught the attention of manager and enterpreneur Louis de Vries (the man who had arranged the very first Pink Floyd gig in Belgium) and soon debuted with the single 'Song For Cathreen' b/w 'Antwerp'. The latter song has become a club favourite during the following years, due to its danceable freakbeat/psych rhythm. Shortly after, the Mad Curry album was released on the Pirate label. The music is characterized by repeated time signatures that provide a progressive feeling.

The sax and organ bring a specific jazzy element to the performance and the unique high bluesy voice of Viona Westra is very recognizable. Also present was a solid rhythm section which adds a psychedelic rock base to the mix. The album was housed in a beautiful, very original fold-out cover. If you are into the sounds of UK bands like Affinity or Ghost, do not miss this splendid classic from Belgium's '70s underground scene. This first ever vinyl reissue is made with the help of Louis de Vries and the band, and comes with a bonus 7-inch featuring 'Song For Cathleen' and 'Antwerp', and a reproduction of the gorgeous six panel fold-out sleeve. The insert features liner notes by Herman Permentier and cool unseen photos.
