First with his band The Bunnys and later with The Blue Jeans, guitarist Takeshi Terry Terauchi covered many popular genres, from garage, frat-rock and surf guitar instrumentals, through sentimental ballads, via his own inimitable take on the popular classics; little known in the U.S., he is Japan's premier guitar hero. His style could be described as neo-surf: along with the traditional surf and respective sounds he was using the stylistics of true '70s rock, with fuzz guitar connected to the acid organ and impetuous drum solo. In 1972 the instrumental album 'Rashomon' was released, where the main theme was written by Terauchi for Akira Kurosawa's same titled movie: a surf/psych cut with dark guitar and soaring flute - pretty exciting!
